Decorative Traditional Norwegian Tine Box in Blue, Circa 1900s
A wonderfully decorative traditional Norwegian. Tine Box in blue, circa 1900. Tine, pronounced "teen-ah", is constructed of a thin piece of steam-bent wood that is laced together with some type of tree root, usually birch. The sides have two vertical posts cut with notches that are used to hold the lid on. To open the tine, a side post is gently pulled apart using the flex of the wood until the lid is freed and can then be lifted off. This is a wonderful decorative item. Dimensions: 24.5 x 12.5 x 13cm.
