All information as following, further requests are always welcome, please don't hesitate to contact me for your specific questions. This is a pair of handpainted porcelain bowles of approximately 130mm diameter. They are genuine Chinese antique pieces and were produced in the Kiangsi kilns under the reign of the Guanxu Emperor. They are preserved in mint condition and I can guarantee that there is no restoration and no damage. The painting is done by an artist creating a bucolic scene with fluid and spontaneous movement of the brush which is loaded with (expensive) pigment of a very bright and attractive cobalt blue. The landscape includes a waterside with fishermen and birds, and moves on to a farmer on a hillside with his buffalo coming home in the evening. The painting recreates a scene of peace and harmony, the idyllic life in the country, and therefore represents the deep desire of the (much troubled) Guanxu period for peace. It is the kind of painting which makes reverence to the past and gives pleasure to the present. The bowls are marked on the underside with a symbol of Good Luck, namely a basket of flowers.
This symbol makes it clear that these bowls were produced as a luxury product in the Kiangsi kilns and were destined for sale to wealthy clients outside the court. Thank you for your attention and with kind regards from Gisela.
The perspective in picture five is a bit misleading, please be aware that both bowls are exactly the same size. Please be advised that my collection includes seven pieces of antique China and some of them date back to the 16th century. Please feel free to inquire. The bowls were acquired on a trip to Hong Kong were I was invited by Madame Wen-li Chan in 1990.The item "PAIR OF FLAWLESS PORCELAIN BOWLS GUANGXU PERIOD GENUINE RARE BLUE DECORATED" is in sale since Monday, March 5, 2018.
